Telebridge Instructions Conferencing Tips Technology Tips

These instructions are for clients using our telebridge classes.

Conferencing Tips

Telebridges take two or more people to work. Generally, when you join a call you will hear people visiting or a session about to start. As other people join there will be a tone everyone can hear. The leader will often ask who joined the call. At this time you can introduce yourself.

Mute your phone when listening.
When speaking, please state your name first.
The leader will usually ask for callers to share or respond, throughout the call. The Instructor will say, "go ahead." Then you can say whatever you'd like to. Always use the leader's name and wait until they respond, indicating that you can proceed. On smaller calls this formality isn't usually needed and there is a natural flow to people sharing and discussing.
Telebridges are based on listening and speaking. Be aware of your communications, your verbal language and appropriate tone when sharing. The class does not have the same experience as face to face classes. It is best to be sensitive to your tone of voice, words and how you communicate while speaking to avoid miscommunications.
Since there is no way to raise your hand like in face to face classes, you only need to wait for an appropriate break in the conversation and ask the leader to share.
If you are arrive early, you might enter someone else's session. If you arrive late, the leader may not stop the class to acknowledge your arrival. If you do arrive late make sure you have an understanding of the class discussion, before speaking.
For privacy and intellectual property reasons, calls are not allowed to be taped.

Technology Tips

We want all of our participants to enjoy their experience in the teleclass. Here are some technology tips to help make the call pleasurable for everyone.

Disable call-waiting. Dial *70 and then dial your bridge number.
Have your class material handy, including the phone number.
Arrange you schedule to be on time without any distractions.
Make sure you know what time you need to call
Verify the difference in time zones http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
If the call doesn't connect you to the bridge, verify your time, schedule and bridge
If you dial and the phone rings busy, try again. Some bridge lines do fill-up.
If you get "all circuits are busy" try again.
Use your mute button when you are listening.
Do make the call on a land-line, not a cell phone, speaker phone, computer or telephony connection.
Be aware of other noises you bring to the call, breathing, barking, tv/radio, background noise carries and all attendees can hear it all. (Really)
If possible use a hands-free handset to give your neck a break.

If you get disconnected, call back.

Technology does fail or cause challenges like echoes and interruptions. Your teleclass leader will work with the callers to resolve the issues as needed.
